Financial Aid

Winter Students Walking

General Information

Winter Session is a shortened academic session which allows students to earn a minimum of 3 additional credits during the academic year. For financial aid purposes, the Winter Session is considered to be a part of the fall semester. Winter Session financial aid is available only to students seeking a degree from Virginia Tech. Due to the limited availability of financial aid, funding is not guaranteed.

Need financial aid for Winter classes?  There’s no special financial aid application for Winter session if you’ve already completed the most recent FAFSA!

Just register for your classes and the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid will notify you by email after November 1 with your financial aid options.  Most students take advantage of Federal Subsidized and Unsubsidized, Parent PLUS or Private Loans to fund winter classes.
